Four worlds of work for 2030
Four Worlds of Work for 2030
This is about a PWC report detailing the forces shaping the future workforce. The four worlds of work are;
- Collectivism
- Individualism
- Fragmentation
- Integration
The different Worlds
The Red World
Individualism & Fragmentation The red world is one where there are very few rules, making many small businesses the norm with few to no employees. Meaning each employee must be highly skilled and job security is nill.
The Blue World
Individualism & Integration The blue world is one where corporations have grown to massive sizes, this provides some more job security, but still fierce competition to stay relevant.
The Green World
Integration & Collectivism This is one that is opposing to the red world in some ways, where regulation and corporate responsibility are paramount. Workers are rewarded wtih inventive compensation packages and job security.
The Yellow World
Fragmentation & Collectivism In this world people are individuals that work as part of guilds with heavily defined careers and professions. Craftsmanship is preffered over technology.
Automated Workforce & [[ Artificial Intelligence ]]
The piece argues that the automation of processes will make a large proportion of jobs obsolete through the use of artificial intelligence and automation. However, this opens the path for people with high emotional intelligence and creativity as these will be more difficult for people to do. In this way I would propose it is similar to the industrial revolution, where automation didn’t mean the loss of jobs, though the transition into different jobs.
Global Megatrends
- Technological breakthroughs
- Demographics shifts
- Rapid urbanisation
- Shifts in global economic power
- Resource scarcity & climate change
